AHRI and CIPD reciprocity agreement

In August 2013, CIPD and AHRI signed an agreement enabling mutual recognition for individuals holding corresponding professional grades of membership in either body.

This means that Chartered Members and Academics of the CIPD (Chartered MCIPD/FCIPD or Academic MCIPD/FCIPD) are recognised as being equivalent to AHRI professional members who have successfully undertaken one of the HR certification pathways to become an AHRI certified HR practitioner or academic.

If you are a Chartered Member or Academic of the CIPD, you can apply to have the equivalent certified practitioner or academic status in Australia.

Who can apply?

Current Chartered Members and Academics who have already achieved with the CIPD, the levels of

  • Chartered MCIPD/ FCIPD or
  • Academic MCIPD/ FCIPD

will be automatically recognised at the equivalent of the new certified practitioner or academic levels, and can apply for an AHRI membership under the terms of the reciprocity agreement.

Any upgrades applications will need to occur with the home institute. AHRI may request evidence of a completed CIPD qualification or experience assessment in addition to your CV and evidence of your CIPD membership.
